Sound artist Amie Slavin brings her multi-sensory, sound based installation ‘Other Ranks’ to the Royal Armouries Museum In Leeds from Nov ‘012 to March ‘013.

The installation features current and ex-soldiers’ stories played out of 16 speakers which are interspersed with extracts from written sources running alongside the sound of endless marching feet .

The floor, produced by Creative Continuity, is covered with photographs of humanity, soldiers, mothers, sisters and children, all victims of war – nobody is exempt.

This project raises the question of whether the ever marching ‘Other Ranks’ are a breed apart – or ordinary people stepping up to do an extraordinary job ?
